Remember your journey

by | Mar 29, 2013

Last week we celebrated the 11th year of the Eduplex Pre-school. While watching the excited children waiting for their cupcakes and soft drinks during the songs and principal’s speech, I could not help thinking of God’s immeasurable grace bestowed on me and my family during the construction of the Eduplex.

The principal reminded the children of God’s vision (to change deaf education) that He gave me in 1992, and how they are also part of that vision today, 21 years later.

“Remember your journey, from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord” (Micah 6:5b). How each one of us needs to remember our journey. How God carried us in tough times, smiled on us in good times and led us as we went out on the sea in ships, (unchartered territory) where we did business on great waters, and where we saw the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep. How we came to our wits’ end and cried to the Lord in our trouble, and how He brought us out of our distress. (Please read Ps 107:23-32)

Remember your journey my child.

As I look back on the past 11 years how can I forget the numerous times I was on my knees before the Lord, begging for wisdom, understanding, guidance, help and provision. I could not understand why we had so much trouble, so much resistance and so many tears. But as I remember the journey, I begin to understand that every cry for help and every tear in despair was absolutely necessary; each cry and each tear was building bricks in my walk with the Lord. They were difficult times, necessary times to strip one from arrogance, from self-righteousness and from self-reliance and then….then God started sharing and building a greater vision, His vision, not through FEAR but through FAITH, through PERSEVERANCE and through TRUST in the One who is leading. A vision started unfolding far beyond what I could ever think, ask, pray or even dream.

Remember your journey my friend, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord. May God bless you as you walk the road less travelled, trusting in our Lord Jesus, the One who hears the cries of the workers in the fields.
